Choral Connection is an auditioned chamber choir in Brisbane, Australia. We rehearse each Wednesday night at St Laurence's College South Brisbane. We perform three main concerts per year.

Our history

The choir was founded in 2003 and has performed regularly since that time in the Brisbane area. Since  2018  our conductor has been Will Brown, Coordinator of Choral Music at St Laurence's, Brisbane. Our accompanist is  Brett Sturdy.

Past musical directors have been Astrid Jorgensen, Kylie Los, Katherine Chan, Aleta King and Paul Holley. Guest conductors have included Ian Knowles, Kate Albury, Tim Smetham and Peter Ingram.

The choir has performed with other musical groups such as Amatori, Peace and Choir, Oriana Concert Choir and Brisbane Wind and Brass. We have performed at the 4MBS Music Festival and participated in the ABC Choir of the Year competition.

Our community involvements have included Christmas performances at Holy Spirit Northside Hospital and St Vincent's Hospital.

Choral Connection is a member of the Australian National Choral Association (ANCA). We are a supportive group who offer each other great friendship and connection outside of our regular rehearsals and performances.

Our music

Choral Connection is an auditioned SATB community chamber choir with a membership of around 25 singers. The choir enjoys performing music representing a variety of musical styles ranging from renaissance madrigals, baroque and classical repertoire to jazz, multicultural and contemporary compositions.

Whilst most choir members are amateur musicians, the group aims to create and maintain a high standard of choral performance and to offer a special musical experience to our audiences.

Although the primary focus of the choir is on making good music come to life, we recognise that there is a very important social element to choral singing, hence the inclusion of Connection in our name.
